What We Do

Much of the accumulated knowledge about plants is inaccessible. Like many disciplines, botany has been confined to particular forums, such as the university space. Whether intentional or not, this means that access to the full breadth of our knowledge of plant biology is restricted. There is currently a limit on what can be learned about plant development, physiology, ecology, and evolution on free public platforms. With this challenge in mind, our mission is to democratize the study of plant biology. We have crafted our educational philosophy by integrating our experiences as students, instructors, and scientists curious about nature. Our philosophy is to teach by translating primary literature into digestible content, modeling unbridled excitement and curiosity towards plant life, and welcoming our audience to join us as equals in our exploration of the natural world. We believe that paying more attention to plants can bring us joy and help us grow to be better stewards of this planet!

Democratizing botany through media

Our social-media focused content aims to take academically rigorous information about botany and turn it into digestible media for everyone, anywhere to enjoy. Our educational series brings plants into the foreground. By generating engaging photography and thoughtfully produced videos of plant life, we teach concepts in evolutionary biology, ecology, and biodiversity. We focus on social-media because of its immense reach and free access.

Botany in the classroom

We recognize that, while scalable, social-media based interactions offer less depth than classroom experiences. For this reason, we merge social-first approaches with more traditional in-person lectures and hands-on learning. We would love to work with you in the classroom (any age level!). Please reach out to us if you would like to collaborate.

Public speaking

Speaking in a seminar-style forum offers us the opportunity to directly address particular topics head on. We have given seminars and keynote addresses on science communication, the climate and biodiversity crisis, and decolonizing botany. Want us to speak at your event? Send us an email!
